5 Construction will be completed in 2012
Why India is going to implement this project?

1 This multipurpose projects is the materialization of 40 years long Indian effort
2 16 billion cubic metre water can be stored/reserved
3 Around 1500-2000 megawatt of hydropower will be generated from the project.
4 Aiming to control water flow for their own irrigation purposes by diverting upstream the normal river water flow to Bangladesh
Negative impact on Bangladesh: 1

4 Disastrous floods will be caused by sudden withdrawal of water in rainy seasons
Negative impact on Bangladesh: 2
5 5 crore (50 million of Bangladesh's 165 million) people will be badly affected
